My Journey Into Cold Plunging
As someone who has always dreaded the cold, I never imagined I'd find myself willingly getting into icy waters. Yet, here I am, sharing my journey into the world of cold water plunging, something that has transformed not only my physical health but also my mindset.
I remember those days by the poolside, avoiding the water. Even the thought of cold sent shivers down my spine. But as I started on my health and wellness journey, I couldn't ignore the growing curiosity about the benefits of cold water immersion.
Watching my husband embrace the cold countless times, I was intrigued. Would I ever find the strength and discipline to do the same? It seemed like a daunting challenge, but I was determined to push my limits.
I started turning the shower to cold towards the end. Then came that day – October 3rd, 2023. Driving home from the gym, with the house empty and the pool in the back garden, I dared myself to take the plunge. Without overthinking, I accepted the challenge.
Stepping into the backyard, I confronted my fear head-on & lowered myself into the water. The initial shock was intense! But I felt a surge of pride. I had conquered my fear! From that day forward, it became a mental challenge, a test of my resilience and determination.
With each dip, I pushed myself a little further, aiming for a minimum of three minutes, maximum six. The sense of accomplishment I felt after each session was addictive! I now incorporate cold water plunging into my weekday routine.
